    | | David
and Nancy (a.k.a. Mr and Mrs Wilson-Blyth) , having survived their
respective ‘hen’ night and ‘stag’ do were wed in Rushden Church at
5.00 pm on Saturday 23rd August with the Rev. Richard Morgan,
      Rural Dean, officiating.

    | | The
church, decorated by village members looked lovely in all shades of green
with a hint of the two ‘floral’ symbols, the Oak for England and the
      Fern for New Zealand.

    | | Hymns
were sung lustily with Magaret Hatchett playing the organ and at the
signing a piano, bassoon and violin trio, led by Nigel Blyth, played Elgar
and a medley of English and Scottish tunes. Family members, including
David were suitably kilted! Bob Weedon and his team gave full rein to the
      church bells.

    | | The
Moon Riders formed a guard of honour with of all things, bicycle pumps.
      Nancy’s brother Philip added  much
needed ‘gravitas’ with David’s father’s ‘dress’ sword!!

    | | The
village hall was groaning with sumptuous fare (whole salmon, a ham …you
name it) again provided by Rushdenites…(a ‘kiwi’ tradition) plus
‘adequate’ quantities of liquid refreshment! Younger members of the
family created a lovely cake for cutting surrounded a myriad of cup cakes.

    | | Once
again music was part and parcel of the evening with the jazz trio, who
play with David and Nancy, covering some well known ‘standards’.

    | | Food
cleared away, (well empty platters actually!) and the serious dancing
started with a magnificent country and western group with an excellent
‘caller’. There may have been some sore feet, and even some sore
      heads, in the morning! …..if
‘music be the food of love play on’….and it did and it will be a day
      never forgotten!!  CW.
