On Tuesday 3rd May 2005 Rushden Neil and Anita Martin took over the Moon and Stars. Neil was at the Bull in Cottered for the last fifteen years where he got into the main entry category of the Good Food Guide and is also one of just five pubs in East and North Herts to appear in Michelin's eating out in Pubs 2005. He and Anita have been married for eight years and live in at the Moon which they intend to keep as a country pub / restaurant, open twice a day, seven days a week. Bar snacks to restaurant meals are served at all times except Sunday evenings and on Monday. They have a telephone take away service for  Rushden's home alone working men (and women) and whoever else who wants.  Anita is hoping to serve family cream teas in the pub garden in the summer months. The Moon and Stars also welcomes the Boules team every Monday. The Moon and Stars is now serving cream teas from 3-5pm on Sundays.

The Dining Area

The Moon and Stars pub is an attractive tiled building with a large garden at the back and a petanque court. It is believed to date from the sixteenth century when it was two cottages. It was rebuilt in the eighteenth century when it became a public house. It is said that it used to be so cold that customers would collect wood on their way there to put on the fire. This is no longer needed as a real fire now awaits its customers.

The restaurant holds up to 22 diners and the public bar is unspoiled by "brewery modernisation" and is a regular meeting place for local groups such as Bell Ringers and British Legion.
